The Code
All of our fundraising is carried out to the Code of Fundraising Practice. Every fundraiser completes training on the Code, on safeguarding and on the script for the campaign they are working before their first shift, and the training is measured on what was actually watched rather than a declaration.
On the stand and on the doorstep
- Our fundraisers are paid by Skyeline and say so before anything else. They wear a badge with their name and photograph.
- They work from a script for the campaign that sets out what must be said, what must never be said, and the disclosures the product carries. A lottery carries its gambling and age disclosures; a monthly gift carries Direct Debit and Gift Aid.
- They stop a conversation where the person in front of them may be vulnerable, and record that they did.
- They do not follow, pressure or return to anyone who has said no. A door marked as not to be knocked stays that way.
- They work only where the site owner has agreed and where any licence or exemption order required is in force.
How we know
Every shift begins with a photograph of the badge and the stand and a location. Every conversation is logged as it happens. Shifts are monitored by mystery shopping, spot checks, site visits and shadowing, with each visit recorded. The results, with complaints and what was done about them, are reported to every charity we work for and are available to them on demand.
Complaints
If something did not meet this standard, our complaints procedure says how to tell us and what happens next.
